Petrography

Our geologists have many years of experience working in a wide variety of geologic environments.  All thin-section studies include description of the hand sample, photomicrographs, detailed descriptions, and placement of the sample in its geological context.  We will stain the sample (for K-feldspar, plagioclase, or carbonates) at your request.

Microphotographs: On the left, tourmaline in a chalcopyrite matrix, shown in tranmitted light with crossed polarizers (100x).  On right, the same field but shown in reflected light.
